The future of the blog...

I have been asked a few times over past couple of weeks, what the fate of the blog is. To be honest, I am not sure what will be done with it.

We have a large following on Facebook and I plan on devoting a lot of time to that. Over the next week or so, I will be thinking about what the best use for this blog is. I am open to any an all suggestions to what you would like to see happen here. I will not be bringing anything from our Facebook page here. I simply don't have the time to do the same thing in two different places.

My question to you is what would you like see here that isn't featured on our Facebook page? One thing that will no longer be a feature here is the posting of full stories. Those will appear only in the paper and at michgansthumb.com.

Thank you for your input.

  1. To be honest Paul-I rarely come to the blog site and I read the HDT online. I just do not have the time to do all three. Remember not to spread yourself to thin.

  2. I check it a couple of times a week. What I enjoyed the most was the back and forth in the comments. How much good it does, I don't know.
I will miss it if it goes away, but I also understand the work load problem.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

  3. Before the move to this new blog website I checked it daily as it was much more active. Some things that I would really like to see added either to here or to the Facebook page are live chats to get discussions going and more live stats from the game that you are covering.

  4. We will certainly take the live chats into consideration. As far as live stats, what exactly would you like to see? On our Facebook page, we do provide scoring updates after each quarter. I'm not sure if we could give much more while properly paying attention and taking photos.

    Thank you for your input.

  5. Paul, do what is best for you and your workload. We already understand things will be different now that Mike is gone so if something has to go so be it.

  7. I realize the stats may be unrealistic but I appreciate you taking the live chats into consideration. Places like ESPN, MLive and other outlets use them and I find them very interesting. Another thing that might be interesting would be getting a local athlete to write a weekly column discussing the week that was with their team or other happenings in the area.

  8. Thank you to the last anonymous. I really like the idea of local athletes doing a column. I also like the idea of live chats. I think the blog could be a perfect place for that. I really do appreciate the suggestions. Please keep them coming.

  12. Right now, I am unable to post anything on the blog. Mike Bogan does not remember his login and password.

  13. I am working on recovering my password and login.
When they shut down my Tribune email account my password no longer works.
I hope to have it recovered soon.
